Many computer historians consider the DEC PDP-1 to be the first minicomputer, but it was still quite large and was built entirely with discrete transistors. Most computer historians consider the DEC PDP-8 to be the first minicomputer as it was actually small enough to sit on a desk and later models were built with monolithic integrated circuits.

The speed of a minicomputer is typically measured in megahertz or gigahertz, which represent millions or billions of cycles per second, respectively. This indicates the frequency at which the central processing unit (CPU) can execute instructions.

A laptop would be more suitable because it can handle a bigger load than a minicomputer can. Remember networks are computers that work together, and the main computer will organize the computers and process the information from the computers. Everything will go through the main computer. In other words, you will be better off with a laptop rather then a minicomputer.

Just like a desktop (or microcomputer), a minicomputer can have different capacities and hardware. However, minicomputers are almost always multi-user; their operating systems are designed to server multiple people at the same time.

A minicomputer is usually physically larger than a microcomputer as well.

There were no "minicomputers "(by today's standards) then. The smallest computers in service were the size of a large car.

It allowed miniaturization beyond the discrete transistor, allowing the introduction of the minicomputer in the middle 1960s.

It consists of a few minicomputers interconnected by a communication network. Each minicomputer usually has multiple users logged on to it simultaneously. For this several interactive terminals are connected to each minicomputer. Each user is logged onto one minicomputer, with remote access to other minicomputers. The network allows the user to access remote resources that are available on some machine other than the user is currently logged.Minicomputer model can be used for resource sharing like information databases.

A minicomputer is a computer of medium power, more than a microcomputer but less than a mainframe. This class of smaller computers were developed in the mid-1960s and a possible candidate for the first early and highly successful minicomputer was Digital Equipment Corporation's (DEC) 12-bit PDP-8 made in the US.

when the micros and the minis were introduced in the 1960's they differed both in their speed and storage capabilities. minis were usually used in areas where there was a need for multiple users to be logged in simultaneously but now the term minicomputer has become obsolete.

microcomputers also have different types handheld, personal digital assistant, Macintosh (MAC), Tablet, Laptop (Notebook) and desktop while minicomputers are less expensive than mainframe computers. Minicomputers are also designed for a single user only.

I am using a minicomputer right now and it seems that minicomputers might not be able to do what a regular sized computer can but still might have special characteristics. first off a minicomputer is designed to be small (obviously) all though mini computers are also designed for simply Internet but can be used for trips on the go depending on if your a gamer most are not designed for that, unless you can change your graphics card- a graphics card is designed for faster speed on video games with less lag. if your thinking about getting a mini computer these can be some reasons for one but if i were you i would get one if your in high school or college (in my best opinion). i hoped this helped.
