Johann Rudolf von Bischoffwerder
Bischoffwerder, Johann Rudolf von (Cölleda, 1741-1803, Potsdam), at first a Prussian officer, became the favourite of King Friedrich Wilhelm II; he was an initiate of Rosicrucianism (see Rosenkreuzer) and influenced the King in this direction. For a time he controlled policy, but on the accession of Friedrich Wilhelm III in 1798, he was dismissed, spending his last years as a country gentleman on his estate.
