UFOlogy is a word coined to describe the research of and combined efforts of those researching the UFO phenomenon. Contrary to popular belief, however, UFOlogy as a word does not solely describe those in favour of UFO's as Extraterrestrial Spacecraft, but rather an umbrella term relating to all studies of the phenomenon itself, irrespective of belief or stance on the subject.

I have a lot of old DOWNBEAT magazines beginning in the early 1960's -with a few back to 1945-and I enjoy brousing them but often I see an interesting article and later I can't locate it again. The only sort of index I know about the is the 'New Grove Dictionary of Jazz' which has DOWNBEAT references at the end of various musicians sections. This is not much of a help but can enable you to locate some of the material.
It would be tremendous to have a complete DOWNBEAT index on line to consult!

There could be right on their site http://www.rd.com/?channelId=&, but since I am not sure which article you are looking for, I can't tell for sure. I looked up a topic, and it seemed to come up with articles pretty readily, so you might want to search there. There is an index online for the Canadian version of Reader's Digest (if the same articles are shared sometimes, it might be there), and there has to be an index somewhere that can be used by librarians for periodicals... so if you can't find the article on their site, you could go to a local library and see if you can find it in the periodical index. If all of those things fail, you could also ask a librarian, since they have more resources than the average person at their fingertips. :)

There are several ways to find magazines in a library. My favorite old-school way is using the "Readers Guide to Periodical Literature," which lists by author and by subject the names of the articles in most major magazines from the late 1800s to the present. (It is now available online.) Most libraries also have an index which tells you which magazines they own; these days, that index too is generally online. There are also magazine databases like Academic Search Premier that most major libraries have.

The impact factor measures the average number of citations received by articles in a journal, while the h-index measures the productivity and impact of a researcher's work. Impact factor is more focused on the journal's reputation, while the h-index is more focused on the individual researcher's influence. Both metrics are used to evaluate the significance of scholarly publications, but the h-index provides a more comprehensive view of an individual's impact over time.
