There many different steels are used, for example, P20, 1.2311,718H,1.2738, H13, 1.2344, 2316,S136, etc..
Usually for mould based, the steel will be SC45#,P20 or 1.2311.
For daily household product, the stell will be 718H,1.2738
For PVC material ,steel will be 1.2316 or S136,
For food product mould, for example preform mould or food contaier mould, the steel will be S136. this is stainless mould steel.

Before making the mould, we need to do the product design and mould design, then according to the cliects' requirement, we need to prepare the mould steel, some steel is expensive, some is cheaper, it is depened on client.
