Both Ectomobiles are currently sitting in a Sony pictures backlot having recently undergone a full restoration after years of deterioration , Universal studios "Spooktackular" stage show featured a replica built by universal which was purchased by a gentleman from Tennessee and is currently being restored to movie correct condition as well. Currently an Ecto-1 replica is held for sale at about $150,000. This is not the original car, but a replica made by George Barris. George Barris actually had nothing to do with the original cars, but has claimed credit to designing and building them. Another replica currently resides at Historic auto attractions museum in Roscoe, Ilinois. The original was the creation of Steven Dane, credited as a Hardware Consultant in the credits.

No- the movie has never officially gone into production. The entire original cast (except for Sigourney Weaver) has reunited for the production of a Ghostbusters video game written by Dan Ackroyd. This game came out May 19, 2008 and is probably the closest anyone will ever get to see "Ghostbusters 3".

Well- it is known that he was not happy with Harold Ramis after they finished working together on "Groundhog Day". Therefore, they neither one wanted to be involved with each other in anything for a very long time. That interfered with future plans for a third Ghostbusters movie because Dan Ackroyd had written a script for one where they would be going to Hell. Now a new script has been written and the studio is doing whatever they can to get a third one into production- Bill Murray is the only actor who has not given approval for it to begin as he owns part of the rights to the franchise.

The scientific theory in Ghostbusters is that the cohesive part of a spirit is an ectoplasmic residue, which is left behind in our realm if it comes into contact with a ghost. This has been discovered in a few paranormal investigations, but there is no scientific proof that the ectoplasm came from an incorporeal entity. Ghostbusters would not be a funny movie unless there was a common occurance of being attacked by a ghost... like that of Peter Venkman getting "slimed" from head to toe in green goo.

Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett) is possessed by Zuul and becomes the gatekeeper. The keymaster is portrayed by Rick Moranis (Louis Tully.) The keymaster & gatekeeper were supposed to unite and summon Gozer the Gozarian.

His name is Slimer. Although I don't think he had a name in the actual Ghostbusters movies. I think he was only given a name in the cartoon TV show that was on in the late 1980s to early 1990s.
