Franz Stelzhamer

Stelzhamer, Franz (Großpiesenheim, Upper Austria, 1802-74, Henndorf nr. Salzburg), became an actor and later a recitalist of Austrian dialect poetry, being known in this capacity as Piesenhamer Franz. His volumes of verse include Lieder in obderennsischer Volksmundart (1837), Neue Gesänge in obderennsischer Volksmundart (1845), and Neue Gedichte in obderennsischer Volksmundart (1846). Ausgewählte Dichtungen (4 vols.), ed. P. Rosegger, appeared in 1884 and Ausgewählte Werke (2 vols.), ed. L. Hörmann, in 1913.
