François-Joseph Régnier
Régnier, François-Joseph (1807-85). Distinguished French actor whose long career at the Comédie-Française (1831-71) was marked by almost unbroken success in the major comic roles of the classical repertory (Molière, Marivaux, Beaumarchais). He was also esteemed for his performances in modern plays, e.g. Scribe's Bertrand et Raton (1833).
