No, diazepam is a benzodiazepine whereas Requip is an anti-Parkinson's drug. Requip works primarily on dopamine receptors in the central nervous system. Diazepam works on benzodiazepine receptors on GABA neurons. It is thought that Requip may have negligible activity at other GABA sites, but this is not its main mechanism of action. In terms of toxicity screen, I have not found data stating that Requip will give a false positive for benzos. High concentrations of fenoprofen, flurbiprofen, indomethacin, ketoprofen, and tolmetin (these are NSAIDS) may give a false-positive result by a TDx assay. Sertraline (Zoloft) may cause a false-positive urinary benzodiazepine assay using the original cloned enzyme donor immunoassay system

I am a Bus Driver. The company I work for conducts random drug and alcohol testing. I was asked to undertake a urine test to assess if I had any illegal drugs in my system. I tested positive for marijuana. However, I don't take illegal drugs. As it turned out, Somac (a medication I take for reflux) sets off a positive reading for marijuana. Nope. THC is uniquely marijuana. There is no best drug for treating anxiety. Every patient is unique and the anxiety drug that may be best for one person, may not work well for another. That's why it is common for physicians to have their patients try a drug for several weeks or months and see if it works well for them. If it doesn't, the physician may prescribe a different drug instead. It is best to consult with your licensed and trained health professional to find out the best drug options for your anxiety, and they can work with you to determine what is ideal. For some patients, a good drug can make all the difference in the world on their ability to cope wtih anxiety. By the way, other useful treatments, in addition to drugs, that can lessen anxiety include: regular exercise; a good diet and proper rest; little or no caffeine such as from coffee or soft drinks; keeping your mind mainly focused on the positive; and proper breathing. Good luck and good health!
