In the old days, radios used vacuum tubes instead of the newer lower voltage transistors to amplify signals. When such radios were used in automobiles a technique was used to convert the 12 volts in a car to the much higher voltage required by vacuum tubes. The device used was called a vibrator and it was an electro-mechanical device that would rapidly reverse the polarity of the 12 volts as it was applied to a step-up transformer's primary winding. The transformers output was AC which had to be rectified back to DC and filtered using capacitors (called condensers back then) to smooth DC of a much higher voltage.

You have my apologies. Your previous question was not susceptible of one single answer, though. There is still no definitive "name" of who "invented school". There are various types, and they've existed long before records were kept.
Bear that in mind. In pre-history, people still taught their children, and if such happened with a group of children and one adult, one could regard it as a "school".
In the Book of Daniel, there was a dispute between the Jews in captivity who believed in homeschooling and traditional teachings, versus the King of Babylon who wanted all children taught in state schools.
The earliest name I found was King Shulgi of ancient Sumeria, 2,100 B.C. He refers to schooling, though does not say who invented it.
In modern times, as previously said, King Frederick William III of Prussia started what we think of as schools nowadays. His name is probably the best answer. And for this nation (U.S.), John Dewey is the "inventor" of our current way of having such schools.

No, firstly is an adverb.
First, however, can be used as a noun or an adverb (or an adjective, for that matter), and can always be used in place of firstly.
