The meaning of the poem "Ancestors" by Dudley Randall is that
you don't need to be royalty to be proud of your background. Dudley
Randall was African American and his ancestors were slaves, yet he
was as happy with them as ancestors as if they were royalty. Dudley
explains in the poem that he just wants everybody to be treated
equally. So, basically, you don't need to be fancy/royalty/famous
to be a person that somebody looks up to. Hope this helps! :)
