Under the dash on the drivers side closer to the middle you'll find a smallish black box with the words Security Module stenciled on it. The box is about 2X3X3 inches or so, maybe a bit bigger and it plugs into a small wiring harness. Unplug that and you disconnect the security system. You'll have to lay on your back with a flashlight to find it but it's there. No other systems are affected by removing that.

There is no mechanical odometer in these vehicles that can be disconnected. Odometer output is driven by the computer based on information from sensors on the transmission and pre-programmed information about axle ratios, tire sizes, etc. Trying to disable this will make your vehicle not work properly, if at all.

You will need to know if the ECU checks if the EGR valve is functioning properly or not, if this is not the case it is safe to disconnect the EGR control, or close off the valve with eg. a sheet of metal.
If the ECU does check for the functioning of the EGR valve, disabling the valve in any way will cause an error in the engine management which will most likely go to a "safe mode" which can easily rob you of 20% of your power.
Check with a local tuning company or car dealer to find out if it is possible, it is different in every engine, even another 2.2dti from the same make might be quite different from yours.
The advantages are less carbon being built-up in your intake, less carbon emissions, quicker throttle response at part-throttle. The downside is higher NOx emissions.

I just bought a 626 a couple weeks ago and I didn't even know until tonight that it had an alarm when it went off on me. Well I just looked it up in the owners manual and it says that to turn the alarm off you should unlock any door or trunk with the key. Doesn't list any other way. Hope this helps someone. What a surprise that was.

When the small voltage battery is disconnected from the coil of many loops of wire, the collapsing magnetic field within the coil induces a large voltage according to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. This phenomenon is known as self-induction, where the changing magnetic field within the coil generates an electromotive force that produces a large voltage.

This phenomenon is known as electromagnetic induction. When a magnetic field created by current flowing through the coil is suddenly disrupted by disconnecting the battery, it induces a large voltage in the coil according to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. This sudden change in magnetic field generates an electric current in the coil that produces the high voltage.
