Internet service has come a long way since people had to call the internet with a phone line. Those long waits and the sounds of static as the internet connected aren’t as in the past as some people think, but for most advanced internet users, dial-up has been replaced by DSL or Cable internet. DSL and Cable are faster. There is no need to connect to the internet. DSL and cable don’t interfere with household phone usage. Even though there is good reason to believe that every dial-up internet service provider in America is either dead or dying, the belief in this demise is wrong. There are more than a few dial-up internet service providers in existence and some of them do very well. Here’s why.
Price
A dial-up internet service provider can always offer a lower price on internet service than DSL or Cable providers. Dial-up is cheaper. It will always be cheaper. It’s the main advantage of dial-up internet and a good reason that people still stick with it today.
Purpose
Not everyone relies on the internet for news, video, movie tickets, and travel arrangements. There are people out there who use the internet sparingly. These people have a purpose for using the internet that doesn’t call for fast page loads. If they log on only for e-mail, dial-up works just fine for this purpose. Even if a bit of browsing is thrown into the mix, for example a visit to a news website, the time spent reading will be minimal enough to make dial-up bearable.
Phone Times
With limited internet usage, phone interference is at a minimum, too, and doesn’t become a problem. A fifteen minute e-mail excursion still leaves plenty of room for other members of the household to use the phone in the evening. The phone stays safe and the internet stays cheap.
Because of these three things, dial-up internet is still around. There probably will be a time when dial-up internet is done forever, but for now, dial-up is a great bargain for people who don’t get online much. It is cheaper than high speed service and doesn’t really interfere with phone calls when used very little.

If users connect to the system by rote via dial-up line(e.g. from home), access should be restricted by a dial-up access control. Dial-up access controls prevent unauthorized acces from remote users that attempt to access a secured environment. These controls range from dialback controls to remove user authentication. Dial-back controls are used over dial-up telecommunication lines.

Cable internet is definitely more expensive than dial up. However, cable is worth the extra money. The internet is MUCH faster than dial up internet. Websites on dial up take a very long time to download and many videos are impossible to watch. In my opinion, cable is much more reliable than dial up and you should expect huge improvements from dial up to cable.
