Sent to me by the subject, Lillian Stewart Carl in email. In that email she wrote:

I am attaching my usual publicity photo, the one that's used in the header on my website. It was taken by Laura Domitz. Thanks for asking rather than lifting a photo from my website.

I hereby give permission for the photo previously attached to be used not only on Wikipedia, but also by any re-user of Wikipedia content.

I interpret this as a free licesne, with cc-by being the simplist that fits the expressed intent, of a work-for-hire with the copyright owned by the subject. I am forwarding a copy of the email to the Foundation Permissions address. DES ^(talk) 22:39, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
