Toots never created reggae nor was he in trench town when Ras Cardo and his brethrens created it in 1962. Toots and his friends were never in trench town, nor even close to the yards where Ras Cardo and his brethrens used to congregate. Like Jimmy Cliff and others whom the media has mislead into believing that they were present with Ras cardo, this was never the case. THEY WERE NEVER PRESENT IN RAS CARDO'S BACKYARD WHEN HE NAMED AND CREATED REGGAE IN 1962. Those who want more truths on this fact can consult with Ras cardo for the proofs which he will gladly show them.

Ricardo( Ras Cardo) Scott from trench town wrote the book and published it in 1993. "CARDO", as he is affectionately called by those who grew up with him in trench town was the one who along with Junior Braithwaite formed the- original wailing wailers group before Bob Marley came to live with them in the area. It was cardo and Junior who made it possible for BOb Marley to be safe and to get his group off the ground. Bob Marley was given the same- wailing wailers name and then Cardo and Junior took him to meet with Joe Higgs. Seeco, and Joe then took it from there. Cardo has the details of the history of those trench town days and has shared it with Roger Steffens some years ago while Joe Higgs was alive. The history is under Cardo' s copyrights-(c) A REGGAE EDUCATION- Scotts' official history of reggae, the original wailing wailers , and the trench town experience. This book and history is unique in that it also has on the back cover a rough sketch of cardo' s art trench town layout of the areas they used to roam . This is labeled- REGGAE BIRTH PLACE. Roger Steffens and others have used this book to help enhance the quality of their publications. Many of the history which Roger speaks about comes from what he has learned from Cardo and the works of what Cardo has done. He may not tell this to the world, but Cardo will truthfully share it with others. It is wise to note that Roger came from Brooklyn, New York, not from Trench Town and began to follow reggae and Bob Marley in the 1970's. He archives and collects reggae memorabilia especially on Bob Marley and others. Cardo has met with him in the past when Joe Higgs asked Cardo to do so. Writers on Reggae including- John Massouri, Chris Salewicz, Kwame Dawes, and others have all used and quoted Cardo works from his many books and writings. On pages 49-59 of his book- A reggae education, Cardo has listed some names of trench town people he grew up with. Roger and others have used this to find some of them, including -Cherry- who have verified Cardo truths as so listed. He has told the world about- Alan Skill Cole, Leghorn Coghile, and others. There is a lot which Ras cardo has not revealed about trench town days and the people. He alone has the detailed history of those days. The book- (c) A reggae education- is no longer in publication, and can only be obtained directly from Ras cardo. Ras Cardo is the living reggae creator and resource of Trench Town reggae. The world is now aware of this truth. No one else has what he has in his detailed historical collections. He is the source of reggae. Very very true. When Bob Marley first walked into trench town they were the ones who first saw him and protected him. They were the ones who also helped him to get acquainted with the area and were the ones who originally started the music with him. Then when junior left the island for Chicago, and Ricardo( ras cardo) went to school Bob decided to continue his music with Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston( now Bunny Wailer.
Cardo became a trusted confidant and mentor to Bob Marley and did a lot of reasonings with him about several things of life. Cardo and Junior remained Bob's close friends and confidants up to his death. The same was for Peter Tosh.
There is a lot of detailed history that Ras cardo has not revealed to the world concerning their days in trench town and the music. He has the facts and the truths which so many today seek. Cardo also writes a blog today for www.rascardoreggae.newsvine.com and may be reached there.

Reggae was created, coined and developed into music in Trench town in West Kingston, Jamaica. The reggae mecca was the back yard of Ras Cardo where all the legends including Ras cardo, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Joe Higgs and others would congregate and rehearse their songs before taking it to any studios. All of Kingston's musical artists would visit trench town regularly and those who came from the countryside of the island would eventually find themselves into the backyards of Ras cardo, Joe Higgs and others to join in the singing. Ras Cardo reggae- Ricardo Scott- from trench town while living there coined the term- Reggae from the street word for a promiscuous girl- Streggae. He did this in the company of his friends while on the street corners of west roads and third streets their regular gathering place at that time.
At the time, the late great original wailing wailer and brethren- Junior Braithwaite was with him as one of his childhood close friends.
Cardo was studying latin at the prestigious catholic high school- St Georges college and saw the connections between certain latin words such as- Puella, Puellae meaning- A girl. He noted the -AE- ending similar to that in the word Stregg-AE. and while they played the rhythm of the musical beat they were rehearsing on the corners, Cardo decided to change the negative hostile demeaning nature of the word to women, into something positive with the music.
Cardo wanted all women, including his sisters , mother, and those in the area to be uplifted and looked at and be treated with the respect they deserved.
By doing this, he has changed a word to change a Culture, and today women all over the world can feel safe and respected from being called a streggae.
Cardo has the details of the history and the evidence from all those who were there at the time when he did so.
The music industry has misled people into thinking that it has something to do with what- Toots- placed in his song with the wrongly spelled words- REGAY-. This is what he took after hearing it from trench town and quickly plaing it in his song.
The truth is this however- The word reggae has a deeper menaing and history than those who try to steal from it will ever know. Ras cardo has the details as to why he created it and put the messages of the msuic to it in 1962 trench town.
Cardo has always said- REGGAE WAS NOT COINED BY A FOOL OR AN ILLITERATE.

This was first said by the mother of ras cardo from many of her proverbial and prophetic sayings. Mama Scott, as she was affectionately called by all who knew her in Jamaica, especially in trench town, was the matriarch of many children. She was not only the mother of Ras cardo and his siblings but she was a surrogate mother for Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and other youths in trench town. Ras Cardo has since made the world aware of this and what it means. The recent 2016- Rio Olympics and the the incident with US swimmer- Ryan Lochte- has made this come to full light. Mama Scott admonishes her children to tell the truth and to be ready to stand up to the consequences. The truth will always come to the surface. It will not be hidden for long- it will float like oil on water. This is the literal translation. Ras Cardo often quotes more of his mother in his many writings on reggae, life, and rastafari.

Ras cardo, another original wailing wailer, and reggae creator, was his close friend and brethren for his entire life, and they grew up together in Trench Town West Kingston, Jamaica.
THEY WERE FAMILY, CLOSER THAN A BROTHER.
Junior Braithwaite and Ras Cardo together created a genre of music the world now knows as- REGGAE. They rehearsed many songs in Cardo's back yard then with Joe Higgs, Seeco patterson, Roy Wilson and the trench town people in audience.
THE HISTORY IS SO RICH THAT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CONTAIN IT WITHIN THE VOLUMES OF A BOOK., BUT RAS CARDO HAS IT ALL IN THE ARK OF THE REGGAE COVENANT.
Cardo's back yard was the original Reggae university, and the place where Bob Marley first came to get his grooming in music.
Before the settlement of the Bob Marley estate, Junior was promised many things including his share in the settlement which he rightly deserved for his years of contributions.
The moles who wanted him out of the settlement did just that- THEY KILLED HIM.
Today, the real killers of Junior and of Peter Tosh walk freely. So too are the killers of Bob Marley.
Over the years that have passed, the investigatory and fact finding evidence of Ras cardo and his team have unearthed the truth which points to the moles who took the lives of his brethrens.
Ras cardo and his crew knew those who are responsible and awaits the day of this final revelation. He will not disclose further clues as to his findings, but suffice it to say that they will not escape the judgment.
THEY WERE MOLES WITHIN OUR MIDST BUT SOME OF US BECAME TOO TRUSTING, AND CARELESS.
2015 MARKS 16 YEARS SINCE JUNIOR WAS KILLED. 28 YEARS SINCE PETER WAS SLAIN. 34 YEARS SINCE BOB WAS SILENCED.
JUSTICE MUST NOT ONLY BE DONE, BUT MUST BE SEEN TO BE DONE FOR ALL MY BRETHRENS, SAYS RAS CARDO.
