Some medical techniques are timeless; they worked before, they still work, they'll work forever. But some, like antibiotic medicines, are always under development. Here's why.

When you take an antibiotic, you are conducting a forced evolutionary process within your own body. Let's say that you are ill from an infection of BugA, and that you are taking Drug-B for it. With the first dose, you probably killed half of the BugA germs in your body, and you probably feel better quickly. With the second dose, you've killed half of the remaining BugA organisms, and you feel even better. a third dose, and you've killed half of THOSE, so that you've killed 7/8ths of all the BugA germs.

But you must keep taking the Drug-B pills for it, even though you feel better. Because the first pill killed the half of the BugA bacterial that were the weakest, the most susceptible to the drug. After 3 doses, you've killed 7/8ths of the BugA bacteria - but the survivors are the BugA germs that are the least affected, the most resistant, to that drug. Even if you complete the full 10-day course of the antibiotic, there are still a few surviving BugA germs, and these are the hardiest, most resistant bugs. THOSE are the ones that will survive and go on to make you, or other people, sick again. The Next time the doctor prescribes Drug-A for that infection, it won't work as well - because that case of the disease came from bugs that had already survived this drug before.

And so doctors must continue to develop new antibiotics, because the older ones lose their effectiveness to BugA. And if you failed to take the full course of the antibiotic, you're just making things worse for everybody, because more of the hardy and survivable germs will go on to make other people sick.

Bowden -

  1. English: habitational name from any of several places called Bowden or Bowdon. Bowden in Devon and Derbyshire and Bowdon in Cheshire are named with Old English boga 'bow' + dun'hill', i.e. 'hill shaped like a bow'; one in Leicestershire (Bugedone in Domesday Book) comes, according to Ekwall, from the Old English personal name Buga (masculine) or Bucge (feminine) + dun. There are also Scottish places of this name, but there are comparatively few bearers of the surname Bowden north of the border. In England the surname is found most frequently in Lancashire and in the West Country. In Devon and Cornwall there has been some confusion with the Norman personal nameBaldwin.
  2. English: habitational name from Bovingdon, Hertfordshire, so named with the Old English phrasebufan dune 'on, upon the hill'. The surname may also have arisen as a topographic name from the same phrase used independently, for someone who lived at the top of a hill.
  3. Irish: Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Buadáin 'descendant of Buadán', an Old Irish personal name.

There is a legend that says Croatia was founded by five brothers (Klukas, Lobel, Muhlo, Kosjenc and Hrvat) and two sisters ([[wiki/Tuga|Tuga]] and Buga), so it possible that Croat (Hrvat) is a word that originates from one of the brothers names. It hasn't scientifically been proven who founded Croatia and where they came from. There are some theories though.

The most widely accepted ones are:

- the Slavic theory : Croats are simply a Slavic tribe

- the Iran theory: tries to prove that the Croats brought important elements from Iran, this theory is in conflict with the precedent one

- the Gothic theory: the Croats are actually Goths ( based on the document ''Historia Salonitana'' by Tomo Arhiđakon)

This theory is the one scientists least believe in.
Croatia (as principality and later kingdom) was found in 7th century. Founder of first officially independent country in mediveal age was duke Branimir (879-892 AC). First king was king Tomislav (925 AC) and afer last king, Zvonimir, Croatia has been in unions or under occupation until 1991. First president was Franjo Tuđman.
