Not any more. If you take the time watch or read interviews of Brian Molko from 1995 to 2013, you will see that he is very frank about his drug use which is now IN THE PAST. He had a child (son Cody) in 2005. This turned his life around, gave him a reason to be accountable for his self-destructive behaviours, including alcoholism. On the Loud Like Love You Tube special (last month) he was smoking an electronic cigarette, so he may have given up cigarettes as well. He is a creative, intelligent and courageous person who just wants to live in peace and do his art --like the rest of us.

Brian has not yet authorised a biography. He has just released a book of lyrics, but that's all.
The only two books that are available on Brian are those he attempted to block from publication. In an interview, he called one of them "The work of a charlatan who can't write."(interview can be found on YouTube).
99% of biographical info can be found with a simple search online, there's dozens upon dozens of interviews and articles to be found. You could also join any of the Placebo fan forums. In fact, save yourself money by doing that instead of reading these books! Ask in any of the forums to find a bio of Brian, Stefan or Steve, or find out accurate information from verifiable, official sources (placeboworld dot co dot uk) that date back to the band's inception.

On 1 October 2007, Steve Hewitt left Placebo due to personal and musical differences. Placebo have stressed that the parting with Hewitt was amicable, but that the band members "can no longer live under the same roof, so to speak...Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal will begin work on Placebo's 6th studio album this Spring of 2008, and are in no rush to find an immediate replacement for Steve.
