Sōlīnus, Julius, Latin author, probably soon after AD 200, of Collectanea rerum memorābilium (‘collection of memorable things’), substantially an epitome of the Elder Pliny's Natural History and the geography of Pomponius Mela. The title Polyhistor is sometimes given to this work. Solinus introduced the name ‘Mediterranean Sea’.
