If the British and French monarchies had any relationship it would have to date from the period of the conquest in 1066.After this period the British and French monarchies develop along different lines, the French really beginning with Hugh Capet in the 12th century and the British beginning with William the Conquerer. The french would never consent to british rule neither would the vice versa work. For much of the period of the reign of the sun king to the crimean war the french and british monarchies were at war.The monarchy of Louis-Napoleon the third however was on personal freindly terms with the british monarchs, albert and Victoria. The monarchies were freindly enough to support the emporer in exile after the disasterous outcome fo the franco-prussian war for the french in 1871
