Pinnipeds refers to Seals, Sea lions, Fur Seals and Walrus. The California Sea Lion is the fastest pinniped with a top speed for short burst of 3 to 5 minutes, of 25 mph. The Crabeater Seal is one of the fastest "phocid" seals, with a high speed up to 16 mph. The Harbor Seal also known as the Common Seal, tops 12 mph, for short burst only. While the Harp Seal, and Grey Seal, both can swim about 20 mph, for a short bursts too. The Walrus is the slowest of the pinniped but can still reach 20 mph for a short burst. Unlike dolphins and whales, pinnipeds cannot maintain their high speeds for a long period but they are more agile.
