The ozone layer is a region of the Earth's stratosphere that contains a high concentration of ozone molecules. It acts as a shield, absorbing and filtering out the majority of the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation. This helps protect life on Earth from the damaging effects of excessive UV exposure.
