Yes it does, it measures miles per hour (mph) and kilometers per hour (kph), which is basically your speed. Some cars have speedometers that go up to a higher or lower speed, but don't worry about that. Also there tends to be more kilometers per hour than miles per hour on any given speedometer.

No, 'speed'ometers in cars measure instantaneous speed, which is a scalar quantity. Velocity is a vector quantity, and it is speed plus a direction vector. An example of speed might be 55 miles per hour, while an example of velicity might be 55 miles per hour to the east.

A speedometer measures speed only and not velocity. Velocity is a measure speed of travel and the direction of travel. A GPS unit would measure velocity as it would measure both speed and direction of travel.

An automobile speedometer measures speed. That is why it is called a speedometer rather than a velocimeter.

It tells you how fast the car is moving, not in what direction it is moving, so speed, not velocity.

A speedometer measures speed. The odometer measures distance traveled. The velocity is not known because the direction of the traveling car cannot be predetermined.

Why? Because that's what it was designed for - people want to know how fast their car goes.

Does a speedometer both measure speed and velocity?

No. A speedometer only measures speed. You also need a position sensor or direction vector coupled with the speedometer in order to know velocity, because velocity includes direction.

Does a car has speedometer velocity are both?

A car has a speedometer. When you read the speed that it indicates, and you know the direction in which you're driving, then you know the car's velocity.

What is a measure of both the speed and direction of a moving object?

velocity

What is the measure of both the speed and direction of a moving object?

velocity

Velocity is a measure of both an object's speed and its what?

Direction. Velocity is a vector quantity. Vectors have a scalar size and a vector direction.

How are speed and velocity different what the unis used?

Velocity is the measure of speed in a given direction. Although the SI measurement units for both are metres per second, there must be an explicit or implied direction for velocity.

What describes both speed and direction?

Velocity describes both the speed and direction an object is moving.

Does velocity depends on both speed and direction?

Yes. Velocity depends on both speed and direction.

Do velocity describe both speed and time?

No. Velocity states both speed and direction.Time gets involved in calculating the speed.

20 miles per hour north is an example of?

This measure is an example of velocity, which includes both a speed and a direction.

Velocity describes both?

The speedometer of a car moving to the east reads 100km per hr and it passes another car that moves to the west at 100km per hr so do both cars have the same velocity please explain?

Velocity is direction and speed so the vehicle do not have the same velocity
