Juan (IPA: [xwan]) is a Spanish form of the given name John (q.v.). It was the 55th most popular name in the United States as of 2003. Like all of the other cognates in various languages in the John article it is derived from the Hebrew Jehohannon (God is gracious). It is also commonly found in the Isle of Man, where it has a different pronunciation.
The feminine form is Juana.
