InterGroup buys, develops, and manages affordable housing and other projects with an eye toward social responsibility. The company, formerly a real estate investment trust (REIT), owns around 20 apartment complexes, two commercial real estate properties, two residential homes, and, through subsidiary Santa Fe Financial, majority interest in a San Francisco hotel. Its holdings are primarily concentrated in California and Texas. InterGroup also invests in securities and in real estate portfolios held by other corporations.
